About this Role

Teacher of Music (including Primary outreach) 0.8

Thank you for your interest in the role of Teacher of Music (including Primary Outreach) at Greyfriars Catholic School, part of The Pope Francis Multi Academy Company (PFMAC) within the Archdiocese of Birmingham.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and passionate Music specialist to join our school community (4 days per week). We are seeking an inspirational and aspirational individual who is committed to high-quality music education and to making a meaningful difference to the life chances of young people.

This is a unique and rewarding role, combining teaching music within the secondary school with outreach work in local PFMAC primary schools. It offers the opportunity to shape musical provision across phases, build strong relationships with local partner schools and inspire pupils at an early stage in their musical journey.

This is an exciting time for Greyfriars. As a school, we are on a journey of positive and significant change, with a strengthened focus on curriculum, culture and opportunity. Music is a key part of this. We have worked hard to develop a growing performance culture within the school, including school productions and the development of a vocal group, and we are ambitious to continue building a vibrant and inclusive musical community. The subject itself is still developing, and this role offers significant scope for the successful candidate to shape its direction and contribute to its growth.

We believe that music is central to a rich and balanced education. It enables creativity, discipline and self-expression, while also fostering confidence, collaboration and a strong sense of belonging. Through music, students are able to experience success, develop their voice and contribute meaningfully to the life of the school. This is especially important to us as a Catholic school. This role will be instrumental in ensuring that students, both within Greyfriars and in our partner primary schools, are able to access high-quality musical experiences, performance opportunities and enrichment.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner, confident in delivering engaging and well-structured lessons, and passionate about building participation in music beyond the classroom. They will be able to lead and develop opportunities such as ensembles, performances and productions, and will play a key role in strengthening the school’s musical identity. There is significant opportunity within this role for professional growth, leadership and curriculum development.

Our vision at Greyfriars Catholic School is that we are a Catholic school that champions each and every student so they can flourish individually and collectively. We champion students through teaching them exceptionally well and holding them to account when they need guidance and support. This means a school where learning is disruption free, expectations are high and ambition is shared. We know that working hard and being kind helps students feel both personally and academically successful. We are looking for a teacher who shares this vision and is committed to ensuring that students flourish in all aspects of their education.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to seek further information. I would be delighted to personally show you around our wonderful school and discuss this exciting opportunity in more detail.

Yours faithfully

Ms Lyndsey Caldwell
