Join a Community Where
Everyone Feels They Belong at Philip Morant School and College
Are you wanting to work as a part of a team whose purpose
is to enable every member of the community to feel they belong? Do you have the skills to contribute to a
learning environment that enables staff and students to be the best they can
be?
Philip Morant
School and College was judged as “Good” in all areas by Ofsted in September
2023. We are looking for a part-time Teacher of Music who can be a key part in our ongoing improvement
journey.
Our school is
a calm and orderly place. We work hard
to ensure everyone feels welcome. As the
largest school in Colchester we have exceptional facilities. Through the Sigma Trust there are many
opportunities to work with staff in other schools and to have opportunities for
development.
Living and
breathing our vision and values starts from interview day, with every applicant
welcomed by the Headteacher. From there
every member of staff is part of a strong team and support and opportunity is
always available.
Our music
department has grown significantly over recent years and epitomises belonging,
ensuring that at every level of ability students can be the best they can
be. Student leadership is very strong
with students leading their own clubs for other students. A strong team of peripatetic teachers support
the wide variety of clubs and performance events.
For the first
time in September 2026, we plan to offer Level 3 BTEC Music Performance
alongside a timetabled opportunity for all of our Sigma Sixth music students to
develop their production and performance skills through the use of our
recording studio.
In years 10
and 11 students complete GCSE Music as a qualification and in our current year
10 there are two GCSE groups.
It is due to
the expansion of the department and the increased participation of students
that we now need to increase the size of this team.
Music is a
very important part of our school life and we look forward to hearing from you
about all you can offer to take us even further along our journey.
