About Philip Morant School and College
Message from the Headteacher, Stephanie Neill
Welcome to Philip Morant School and College.
Our vision is simple: a community where everyone feels they belong and are the best they can be.
We are the largest school in Colchester serving a community of 11-18 year old students. Our school was described as having a “warm family feel” in our Ofsted inspection in September 2023. We are proud of our friendly and welcoming school, you are very welcome to visit.
We have served the community of Colchester for over 60 years and are proud of our heritage, our place in the City of Colchester and the future leaders and citizens we are developing. We are a very diverse community. We have welcomed students from many different backgrounds and our curriculum and activities are shaped by that diversity. We have the privilege of provision for deaf and vision impaired students. Students join us from across the city.
Our students achieve very well, we have high expectations but ensure we also provide high levels of support and encouragement.
We have extensive facilities for science, technology, art, music, sports and fully refurbished classrooms and offices following significant investment in the facilities by the Sigma Trust.
Our values are: ‘Aspiration, Success, Kindness’ which underpin our approach to all aspects of school life. We regularly celebrate these values being demonstrated by our students and our staff.
We have the privilege of having a sixth form at our school: “Sigma Sixth Colchester”. There are no other non-selective school based sixth forms in a 15 mile radius. Through our STEM, Creative, Global and Sports Academies we provide a wide range of A Levels and a BTEC Level 3 Sport offer.
We encourage you to explore our current vacancies and look forward to welcoming you to our team.
