About this Role

Join a Community Where Everyone Feels They Belong at Philip Morant School and College

Are you wanting to work as a part of a team whose purpose is to enable every member of the community to feel they belong?   Do you have the skills to contribute to a learning environment that enables staff and students to be the best they can be?

Philip Morant School and College was judged as “Good” in all areas by Ofsted in September 2023.  We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour and Raising Standards  who can be a key part in our ongoing improvement journey.

Our school is a calm and orderly place.  We work hard to ensure everyone feels they belong.  Our students follow our expectations to be Ready, Respectful and Safe.  We are now embedding our learning values of Commitment, Curiosity and Courage.

In the next stage of our journey, whilst maintaining our very high standards of behaviour, the focus will be on how we equip our students to be stronger learners and our pastoral teams will have a whole student focus on behaviour, attendance, learning and progress.

In this role you will lead a large pastoral team alongside the Deputy Headteacher Pastoral.  Your team will include year leaders (teaching) and year managers (non teaching), our attendance officers and our pastoral support officers.

This is a large school and a large team is in place to ensure our students can be the best they can be in their behaviour, attendance, attitude to learning and progress.

You will work as part of our Senior Leadership Team to support the school in all areas of leadership and be a key part of the strategic leadership of the school.  We use our “live list” to manage our priorities, keep our strategic focus and plan for all the demands of a very busy school.

As the largest school in Colchester we have exceptional facilities.  Through the Sigma Trust there are many opportunities to work with staff in other schools and to have opportunities for development.

A visit is strongly encouraged so you can see our school in operation.

Please contact the Headteacher: stephanie.neill@pmsc.school and  jean.robinson@pmsc.school to arrange a visit.
