About this Role

Rose Hill Primary School is excited to bring this brand new role to our school.

Our Early Years Foundation Stage unit consists of a thriving Nursery with a long waiting list, an oversubscribed Reception class, and an Enhanced Provision for pupils with Global Developmental Delay. In July 2025, Ofsted judged our EYFS to be 'Good', but we know there is more work to do - we want to be the best of the best.

Our community deserves an exceptional start to their primary education and so we are looking for an exceptionally talented leader to take on this varied role, which comes with the autonomy to really 'make it your own'.

The EYFS SENDCo and Phase Lead will teach in either Nursery or Reception, with allocated leadership time.  As a key member of the school's Leadership Team, they will work closely with the EYFS and Enhanced Provision teaching and support team, the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo. They will sit alongside an established Leadership Team consisting of a Headteacher, Deputy HT, Assistant HT and Phase Leaders.

Rose Hill is unusual in what we offer to our colleagues, and are proud to have our colleagues' well-being at the forefront of everything we do.

Personal Well-Being and Career Development:

  • Flexible PPA, including a whole day of PPA at home every two weeks.
  • CPLD opportunities that really help you develop your career.
  • NO emails outside of working hours - this is a strict policy that everybody adheres to!
  • Excellent track record for developing ECTs and Trainees.
  • Opportunities to lead a subject of your choosing.
  • New laptops for colleagues, with reliable IT systems and responsive trouble-shooting where needed.
  • Additional time to plan for Parents Evenings and SEND Meetings.
  • Free and regular access to Mental Health Support and Employee Assistance Programme.

Our School:

  • We are forward-thinking and rapidly improving.
  • Our SLT are teachers first and foremost - they really do enjoy being in the classroom.
  • A "live marking" policy to avoid additional work.
  • A fully planned curriculum, with supporting schemes for all subjects.
  • An in-school Union Rep, and a pro-union SLT.
  • A well-managed budget, meaning a well-resourced school - no scrabbling around for glue sticks here!
  • A behaviour system that works with excellent support, leading to significantly improved behaviour across all year groups.
  • A fantastically dedicated team of Support and Pastoral colleagues.
  • Collaboration across the River Learning Trust and beyond.
  • A brilliantly diverse school - we serve and celebrate so many different cultures, including over 35 languages spoken across our school!

Those Little Extras:

  • Takeaway for dinner on Parents Evening
  • A recently renovated staff room, with free tea and coffee (including pods!) and games
  • Free colleague social events, including fully catered Christmas and Summer Party
  • Secure staff parking, for cars and bikes
  • A real sense of fun and good humour - we are completely committed to improving the lives of the pupils in our school, and our shared sense of purpose brings a culture of togetherness. Everybody belongs at Rose Hill!

Our People Say:

"What I really love about Rose Hill is the genuine sense of community that runs through everything we do.  The people I work with are supportive, collaborative and always look out for each other, which makes a huge difference day to day. The children are at the heart of it all. Their energy, honesty and little moments of progress are what make the job so rewarding." (First Year ECT)

"Over the past eight years at RHPS, I have taken on a variety of roles each offering new opportunities to grow and develop. There is always room for progression here.  What I value most are the meaningful relationships I build with students and staff, all within a supportive and positive environment." (Pastoral Team Member)

"I have worked at Rose Hill for 11 years! I think I have worked here for so long because of the fantastic children. Rose Hill is a place where you feel welcomed by all and it has a real sense of community. I have been able to progress in my career at Rose Hill and I would not have been able to do this without the great support that is offered." (Pastoral Team Member)

Ofsted Say:

"Rose Hill Primary School is a place where pupils are lovingly welcomed into school every day."

"The new leadership has prioritised the actions needed to improve the quality of education quickly. The school is supported well by the local governing board and the trust."

"Pupils are confident that the school will help them with any issues they have."

"The school identifies the needs of pupils with SEND correctly. It works well to provide the necessary support to help these pupils succeed in their education."

"Bullying is not common and is never tolerated."

"The school is committed to enhancing the provision for pupils’ knowledge of the wider world and life beyond the school gates. A range of trips and visits broaden pupils’ lived experiences."

Please see the attached recruitment pack for further information. We would really recommend visiting our school and seeing what we're all about. Email Rhiannon Wilkie, Headteacher, at headteacher@rosehillprimary.org to arrange a visit.

Although this is a permanent role, the leadership duties associated with the TLR payment may be altered as the school's needs develop.
