Key Responsibilities:
Extended Schools
Provision (Main Site)
- Plan,
promote, and coordinate after-school and lunchtime clubs, ensuring
inclusive access and pupil safety.
- Produce
a termly extended schools programme, informed by pupil voice and quality
assured by SLT.
- Ensure
parental consent, risk assessments, and consideration of health care and
positive handling plans.
- Coordinate
travel arrangements and staffing rotas, ensuring appropriate cover and
registers are maintained.
- Maintain
accurate pupil attendance records and provide termly reports to SLT.
- Promote
positive behaviour in line with school policy.
- Evaluate
the impact of extended schools provision and contribute to strategic
development planning.
Safeguarding and Welfare
- Act
as a help alarm responder on the main site.
- Maintain
strong safeguarding awareness and report concerns in line with school
procedures.
- Promote
pupil wellbeing and a safe environment during extended school activities.
- Support
staff understanding of safeguarding considerations within extended
provision and family engagement activities.
Pastoral Support
- Deliver
one-to-one and small group pastoral support under the direction of senior
pastoral staff.
- Support
pupils with SEMH needs, wellbeing, and engagement.
- Work
collaboratively with teaching and support staff to embed pastoral
strategies across school life.
- Use
ICT effectively for record keeping and communication.
- Contribute
to the development and evaluation of targeted pastoral interventions.
Grant Applications and
Resource Management
- Research,
identify, and apply for grants and funding opportunities to enhance
pastoral and extended provision.
- Manage
allocated budgets related to extended schools and PTFA activities.
- Liaise
with the Finance Officer to monitor budgets in line with school finance
policy.
- Prepare
annual reports on activities, finances, and budget projections.
- Establish
and review Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure value for money.
- Monitor
the impact of externally funded projects and report outcomes to senior
leaders and stakeholders.
PTFA and Parental
Engagement
- Coordinate
and support the Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA).
- Organise
fundraising events and family learning activities.
- Act
as Treasurer for the PTFA, completing financial administration and
arranging annual audits.
- Maintain
the PTFA website and JustGiving page.
- Build
positive relationships with families and support those who find engagement
challenging.
- Develop
initiatives that increase parental engagement and strengthen home-school
partnerships.
Teaching Assistant
Performance Development
- Coordinate
and lead Teaching Assistant Performance Development Discussions (PDDs) in
line with school policy.
- Support
Teaching Assistants in identifying professional development goals and
training needs.
- Monitor
progress against agreed objectives and provide constructive feedback to
support professional growth.
- Maintain
accurate records of performance development discussions and agreed
actions.
- Contribute
to workforce development planning by identifying common training and
development priorities.
- Work
with senior leaders to support the induction, mentoring and ongoing
development of Teaching Assistants.
Moving and Handling
Training Coordination
- Act
as the school's designated Moving and Handling Trainer, where
appropriately qualified.
- Deliver
moving and handling training and refresher sessions to staff in line with
statutory guidance and school procedures.
- Support
staff in implementing safe moving and handling practices for pupils with
additional needs.
- Maintain
training records and monitor compliance across the school.
- Contribute
to risk assessments and individual pupil plans relating to moving and
handling requirements.
- Liaise
with external professionals and therapists to ensure best practice is
maintained.
Communication and
Collaboration
- Act
as a key point of contact for families regarding extended provision and pastoral
support.
- Liaise
with senior leaders to align extended schools and pastoral work with
school improvement priorities.
- Share
best practice and contribute to a multidisciplinary team approach.
- Provide
guidance and support to colleagues in areas of specialist responsibility.
- Contribute
to policy development and implementation within areas of responsibility.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience
supporting pupils with SEND and/or additional needs.
- Experience
leading or coordinating aspects of school provision or projects.
- Strong
organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge
of safeguarding procedures and commitment to pupil wellbeing.
- Ability
to lead, support and develop colleagues effectively.
- Knowledge
of performance development processes and staff coaching principles.
- Understanding
of moving and handling legislation and safe working practices, or
willingness to undertake relevant training.
- Ability
to work independently and collaboratively.
- Competence
in ICT for administration, reporting and communication.
Professional Development
- Commitment
to ongoing training in safeguarding, SEND, pastoral care, mental health,
leadership and staff development.
- Maintain
relevant qualifications and competence in moving and handling training.
- Participation
in whole-school CPD and professional learning opportunities.
- Access
to leadership and career development pathways within the school.
- Contribute
to the development of others through coaching, mentoring and training
activities.
