About this Role

Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Primary SEND)

Location: Esteem Valley Academy

Grade/Scale: Support Pay Scale - Grade 9 (Points 16 - 19), Actual Salary £27,816 - £30,175 per annum

Contract: 37 hours per week, Term Time Only (Part time could be considered for the right candidate)

Esteem Valley Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (SEND) to join our team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of needs, ensuring they can access high-quality learning and achieve their full potential.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will support the planning and delivery of learning activities for individuals, small groups, and occasionally whole classes. You will help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development, and contribute to effective behaviour management.

The role also involves assisting with the preparation of resources, monitoring pupil progress, and contributing to the wider life of the school, including working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.

You will be instrumental in promoting independence, engagement and confidence in learners, while ensuring high standards of safeguarding, care and wellbeing at all times.

Esteem Valley Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. We recognise that many of our pupils are vulnerable and may face additional safeguarding challenges; therefore, all staff must be vigilant, proactive and responsive to any concerns regarding a pupil’s safety or wellbeing. All safeguarding concerns are acted upon in line with academy policies and procedures, with support from the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and wider safeguarding team. Safer recruitment practices are rigorously applied, and all appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references. We warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds who share our commitment to safeguarding and supporting every pupil to feel safe, valued and able to thrive.

Please see the attached Application pack including a Welcome from The Headteacher and more information about Esteem Valley Academy and Esteem MAT.
