About this Role

Join our team at KWS!

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a rewarding leadership role in a vibrant and successful educational environment? Katherine Warington School is seeking a proactive Finance Manager to join our friendly, highly-valued support team and lead our financial operations into the future. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a strategic role in our school's success—supporting the School Business Manager on high-level planning while managing a dedicated team. Whether you are looking for full-time or flexible part-time hours (minimum 30 per week) and the benefit of term-time plus four weeks working, we offer a supportive environment with a comprehensive handover to ensure you hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Planning & Budgeting: You will support the School Business Manager in developing financial plans aligned with the School Strategic Improvement Plan and oversee budget and forecasting software to ensure data integrity.

  • Operational Management: You will maintain effective systems for financial control, manage all income and expenditure (including BACS and online payments), and review school finance policies.

  • Reporting & Compliance: Your role involves producing monthly management accounts, VAT returns, and year-end trial balances, while ensuring full compliance with the Academies Trust Handbook and ESFA requirements.

  • Payroll & Pensions: You will manage the outsourced payroll service to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time, while handling all associated pension returns and queries.

  • Team Leadership: You will lead and manage the Finance team, overseeing recruitment, induction, and performance management for the Assistant Finance Manager, Finance Assistant, and School Trips Co-ordinator.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: You will act as a principal point of contact for HMRC and auditors, and attend Trust Board Resources Committee meetings to present financial reports.
