About this Role

Are you a resilient leader with a passion for supporting children with complex needs? Penny Field School is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team.

This is a high-profile, vital role focused on leading safeguarding, family liaison, and attendance systems within an ethos of "Unconditional Positive Regard".

As a Pastoral Manager, you will be the heartbeat of our school’s support network, building trusting relationships with pupils, families, and multi-agency professionals. You will provide strategic leadership for the school development plan while line-managing our Intervener and Educare teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Safeguarding Leadership: Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), investigating concerns, making referrals, and maintaining rigorous safeguarding systems.

  • Pastoral Care & Wellbeing: Coordinate day-to-day support for student health and behaviour regulation, working alongside medical professionals such as Nurses and Therapists.

  • Training & Compliance: Serve as the strategic lead for mandatory staff training, ensuring 100% compliance in Safeguarding, Prevent, and Health & Safety (including Team Teach and First Aid).

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary contact for parents and lead pupil transitions, ensuring seamless information sharing between settings.

  • Attendance Management: Monitor attendance trends, conduct home visits, and produce detailed impact reports for the leadership team.

We are looking for an empathetic, resilient professional who can remain calm in stressful situations while maintaining clear boundaries.

You will need:

  • Proven experience in a pastoral or safeguarding leadership role, ideally within a SEND or education setting.

  • NVQ Level 3 qualification (or working towards) and GCSE English/Maths at Level 2.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and organise staff teams.

  • Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle and a clean license.

The full job description and person specification are attached as supporting documents.
