About this Role

Witney Community Primary School is part of the River Learning Trust. We are committed to our school's vision of Caring, Learning and Succeeding Together and are supported in this by our school values - philanthropy, creativity, respect, love, friendship and resilience.

Witney Community Primary School is a happy and welcoming school with a strong positive ethos. The focus is on achievement and enjoyment for all whilst promoting learning and self-confidence. Through a wide ranging, well-developed and creative curriculum the school develops the pupils' confidence and self esteem, providing them with a secure foundation and enjoyment of learning. Extra provision is offered through booster classes, links for more able pupils with partnership secondary schools, and after school clubs and community sports.

The school is part of the River Learning Trust as well as the Witney Partnership of schools. These offer a wide range of initiatives and CPD to support all staff in the community.

Witney CP School is situated to the north of the town and was the original county primary school for Witney.  It moved to its present site in 1938 and during recent years has undergone major remodelling and refurbishments to keep pace with changes in primary school practice.    The accommodation consists of a large hall, 10 classrooms in the main school building and a variety of teaching and resource areas. There is a separate dining hall and kitchen.

The grounds of the school are spacious and provide plenty of room for physical education.   There is a patio area for quiet play and a pond and nature area for Forest School work.  The children are organised in 7 classes, one for each year group from Reception to Year 6. We have a nursery on site.

Please have a look at our website to find out more about us or arrange to come and look around the school, you would be very welcome. www.witneycp.org

We can offer you:

• Plenty of opportunities for professional development, within our school and our Trust

• Personalised and dedicated support to improve your teaching

• A supportive and understanding SLT

• A committed and friendly staff team

Last but not least, we can offer an incredible group of children!

What we are looking for

  • Leadership skills - to inspire and motivate other teachers, model good practice, and develop a whole school commitment to supporting pupils with SEND
  • Interpersonal skills - for building relationships with parents, teachers, and external professionals
  • Written communication skills - for writing learning and support plans, reports on pupil progress, and training and guidance for staff
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence, for recognising and responding sensitively to, the needs of pupils and parents

We have an experienced Senior Leadership Team at Witney Community Primary School, who are supportive and can offer coaching support and mentorship. We strongly encourage self development for all of our staff and provide a range of training and development opportunities.

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.
