About this Role

Balmoral Learning Trust is home to two thriving primary schools, united by a shared vision: to create opportunity through collaboration, celebrating the prospects and potential that can be found in our community. We achieve this through our overarching aim to achieve learning and excellence for all. We will soon be joining Tyne and Wear Learning Trust, a growing multi-academy trust in the North East of England. This will bring together six schools across the region, offering exciting opportunities for our children, staff, and wider community.

Hetton Lyons Primary is a vibrant and welcoming school where every child is known, valued, and inspired to flourish. Our rich heritage shapes a curriculum that nurtures aspiration, encourages endeavour, and celebrates expression, giving each child a strong sense of identity, belonging, and confidence. Through high-quality, evidence-based teaching and an innovative approach to learning, we prepare our pupils to achieve highly and embrace the opportunities of the future.

Hetton Lyons is now entering an exciting new chapter, and we are looking for a Headteacher to lead the way. We are seeking an inspiring, energetic, and forward-thinking leader who puts children at the heart of every decision, takes a strategic, hands-on approach to leadership, and is a visible presence across the school. The Headteacher will be approachable, supporting staff, pupils, and families empowering the school community to thrive.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed; please contact hr@balmorallearningtrust.co.uk to arrange a visit.

You will:

  • Lead the way with vision, energy, and positivity, inspiring staff, pupils, and the wider community.
  • Take a hands-on and supportive approach to leadership, ensuring staff are empowered and pupils thrive.
  • Drive school improvement and innovation, ensuring every child achieves their potential.
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and excellence across the school and the wider Trust.
  • Uphold high standards across behaviour, learning, and conduct
  • Support staff development and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate effective operational leadership, including managing resources and evaluating the impact of school initiatives.

We can offer you:

  •  Leadership within a supportive, forward-thinking Multi-Academy Trust that genuinely prioritises staff wellbeing.
  • Excellent professional development opportunities.
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Family-friendly policies.
  • A friendly, collaborative, and motivated team.
  • The chance to make a real difference to our children and community.
