30 hours per week, Term time only plus 2 training days

Actual salary £18,065.18 - £18,955.82

Full time equivalent £26,409 - £27,711.

We have a vacancy for a dedicated Learning Mentor/HLTA who will work as part of our Pastoral Team and Teaching Staff to support children academically as well as emotionally and socially. Learning Mentors provide support and guidance to children who are experiencing difficulties in their learning due to social, emotional or mental health needs. This role requires an understanding of these needs. Once these needs have been identified, you will need to consult with the Pastoral Team, put supportive strategies in place to enable children to succeed in the classroom and maximise learning. As the role of a HLTA you will cover classes to allow Teacher's time for subject Leadership and CPD opportunities and work alongside Teacher's to deliver high quality learning.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have at least GCSE grade c (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • HLTA qualification desirable but training can be given towards the qualification.
  • Be able to work as part of a Pastoral Team and Teaching Team.
  • Be an excellent communicator verbally and have a good standard of written English.
  • Be flexible and adaptable.
  • Be relentlessly positive and seek solutions.
  • Have a thorough understanding of inclusion and what makes an inclusive school.
  • Promote positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Communicate effectively with outside support agencies.
  • Help children to develop reciprocal and positive relationships with each other.
  • Be proactive, enthusiastic and manages time well.
  • Be flexible and adaptable as every day is different.
  • Effective time management.

Visits to the school are welcome. Please contact Hayley Wiltshire on 01376 324107 to arrange a visit.

Start date: As soon as possible, depending on notice period for current employer and employment checks.

Closing date 10th January 2024. Early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to close sooner should the right applicant be found.
