Deputy SENDCo

Salary: MPS/UPS (plus TLR £3527)

Hours: core school hours plus directed time.

We have an excellent opportunity for an inspirational and enthusiastic Deputy SENDCo to join our friendly and forward-thinking team at Greater Peterborough UTC. This role would suit a teacher who has aspirations to become SENDCo in the future and is willing to work towards the National Award for SENDCo.

The Deputy SENDCo will work alongside the SENDCo and  Assistant SENDCo to ensure that provisions for students are timely and effective, overseeing APDR cycles, liaising with families, teachers and external agencies to ensure student needs are met. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to continue the development of our SEND area into an effective and supportive environment that matches their vision of how young people should be enabled to overcome barriers and fulfill their potential.

  • Vision and passion for supporting students' needs
  • Committed to student achievement, with a mind set that all young people can experience success
  •  Innovative and inspiring, developing a love and passion for learning in young people.
  • Experience of SEND teaching
  • Possesses outstanding communication skills and can work well in teams
  • Thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and other relevant statutory requirements
  • Understanding of the Graduated Approach to responding to SEND (Assess, Plan, Do, Review)
  • Has a thorough understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues
