About this Role

St Thomas CE Academy is a small  and friendly primary school situated in the city centre of  Birmingham.  We are looking to appoint a part time SEN Teaching assistant initially for a fixed term period from 1st September 2024 until 31st July 2025. 

You will be friendly, enthusiastic and be able to build a rapport with pupils.  You will be expected to be a good role model to our pupils working with them in a reliable, committed and dedicated way, showing a genuine interest in their continuing development and well-being.

We are looking to appoint an inspirational, forward thinking SEN teaching assistant who prides themselves in working collaboratively, supporting children in building foundations for happy and successful life-long learners.  This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their skills in a caring and supportive school.  The ideal candidate will be someone who has experience of working with SEN children.

Monday –Wednesday

8.30am – 3.30pm (19.5 hours per week)

Term Time only

The role will be supporting the teaching staff in the development and education of pupils including the provision of specialist skills as appropriate. 

We are looking for someone who :

  •         Has an NVQ level 3 or equivalent   
  •         Has experience of working as a SEN teaching assistant
  •         Has a cheerful, warm and welcoming personality with the ability to communicate with children and adults alike
  •         is reliable, efficient and flexible
  •         Can work in a creative and inspirational way with high expectations for all
  •         Excellent organisation skills and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Be a team player who will work with colleagues across the multi academy trust
  •           Will be committed to the strong Christian ethos of our schools
  • Speak fluent English as in accordance with part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016)
