About this Role

First Federation Trust a Multi Academy Trust of 29 primary schools across Devon, Plymouth and West Dorset are looking to appoint a Catering Assistant for Axminster Primary School on casual hours.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work to work as part of a team providing a catering service.

Duties and responsibilities include:

Dining Service

·        Preparing and cooking vegetables and preparing salads.

·        Assisting the Kitchen Manager with the preparation of main courses, sweets, and sauces.

·        Preparing and serving a high volume of meals and refreshments in an efficient and friendly manner.

·        Washing up crockery, cutlery, kitchen equipment and tableware.

·        Cleaning dining area, kitchen premises and equipment.

·        Cleaning outside the kitchen area as necessary, including drains and dustbin area.

·        Support in the maintenance of records as required e.g., food temperature checks.

Whole-school organisation, strategy, and development

·        Support the dining service to ensure an efficient service and to support the ethos to provide a ‘whole family’ dining experience for the children.

Health, safety, and discipline

·        Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff and report any concerns to the appropriate person.

·        Be aware of and ensure good hygiene practices and high standards of:

o   Personal Hygiene

o   Kitchen Hygiene

o   Cleanliness of equipment and premises

 Communication

·        Communicate effectively with other staff members, pupils and parents as necessary.

Working with colleagues and other relevant professionals

·        Develop effective relationships with the catering and dining staff.

Personal and professional conduct

·        Uphold public trust and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school.

·        Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies, and practices of the school, and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.

·        Demonstrate positive attitudes, values, and behaviours to develop and sustain effective relationships with the school community.

·        Respect individual differences and cultural diversity.

Management of staff and resources

·        Use resources in an effective and efficient way ensuring they are maintained to a high standard and looked after responsibly.

Other information

·        Hours and times of work may be varied at any time in accordance with pupil numbers to meet the needs of the school.   

The  closing date is Friday 25th April 2025 at midday
