Contract:                      Term time only + 5 days

Hrs/wk:                         38.25

Job Profile:

 

·         To be responsible for supporting an academy year group (this could include Sixth Form)

·         To deliver efficient and professional information, advice and support to meet the needs of students on a range of personal, pastoral and academic issues.

·         To be the first point of contact for student support for parents/carers

                                                                                    

Person Specification

 

·          A strong desire to work with young people in a support role

·         Effective communication and interpersonal skills with adults and young people

·         Able to work under pressure and use own initiative

·         Competent in using ICT

·         Active interest in young people, education and positive outcomes for young people

·          Good literacy and numeracy. Maths and English Grade 5 or equivalent

·         Committed to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of young people in line with the academy safeguarding policies and procedures                                                                                                                             

Tasks and duties

 

·         Be first point of contact for parent/carer communication

·         To be aware of the vulnerable students within the year group and act as a champion for them

·         Deal with emerging issues that may arise to ensure students are emotionally supported and prepared for learning in a safe environment.

·         Log all incidents and interventions for each student using the academy recording systems

·         Meet with Head of Year on a daily basis

·         Speak to parents and arrange meetings where necessary

 

 

Attendance

·         Mentor students in a year group who struggle with attendance

 

Behaviour

·         Support in managing the behaviour of the student year group, monitoring their behaviour, leading restorative conversations and implementing other rewards/sanctions as appropriate

·         Be part of the on call, detention and refocus area rota

·         Daily uniform / equipment checks for a year group

·         Attend reintegration meetings following suspensions.

·         Prepare behaviour contracts for students whose behaviour is being monitored

·         Lead on praise and recognition of students.

 

Safeguarding

·         Attend safeguarding meetings with outside agencies for students in a year group in liaison with the Deputy Safeguarding and Mental Health Lead

·         To support students with social and emotional difficulties, making referrals to internal and external agencies as necessary via the Deputy Safeguarding and Mental Health Lead

Landau Forte Academy QEMS & Tamworth Sixth Form

 

Landau Forte Academy QEMS joined the Landau Forte Charitable Trust in September 2011 and delivers education to 11-16 year olds. Landau Forte Academy Sixth Form is a purpose-built establishment providing Level 3 courses, both Advanced Level and Applied qualifications, for the whole of Tamworth and beyond. The academies are located on a shared campus, but both operate from their own facilities.  Both QEMS and Tamworth Sixth Form are oversubscribed.  Tamworth Sixth Form has over 450 students studying courses on site.  If you would like to look around our Academy, please contact Mrs Smart esmart@lfatsf.org.uk

Tamworth is a historic town surrounded by beautiful countryside, located a short distance from Birmingham. The Academy is located close to the centre of Tamworth, with superb transport links. Tamworth boasts a range of historical sites and leisure attractions, including: Tamworth Castle; the Tamworth SnowDome and Drayton Manor Amusement Park. Within a 20 minute drive from the town, you can find yourself in the beautiful, open Staffordshire countryside or Birmingham‘s bustling city centre.
