About this Role

Required September 2026

PE Technician & Support Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised PE Technician & Support Assistant to join our PE department at Hampton College.

This is a unique and rewarding hybrid role that combines hands-on operational support with meaningful student-focused work.

You will play a key role within the department, from preparing and maintaining equipment to supporting the delivery of high-quality practical PE lessons.  Alongside this, you will provide targeted support to students, including those with additional needs, helping them to fully access the curriculum and thrive in a physical learning environment.

This is a varied role, one moment you may be organising resources or setting up for lessons, and the next, you’ll be working directly with students to build confidence, develop skills and promote inclusion.

The postholder will: -

  • Support the day-to-day running of the PE department, including managing equipment and resources
  • Work alongside teaching staff to support students in practical PE lessons
  • Provide targeted support for students, including those with SEND
  • Assist in delivering extra-curricular sports activities, fixtures and events
  • Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with young people (ideally in a school or sports setting)
  • Is proactive, well organised and able to use their initiative
  • Has a passion for sport and supporting student development
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Is flexible and adaptable

In return, you will join a supportive and forward-thinking team with opportunities to contribute to a thriving extra-curricular sports programme, and a role that blends practical, active work with a genuine impact on student development.

Please note that there may also be the opportunity to undertake additional paid responsibilities, where appropriate, overseeing the organisation and delivery of Primary Link sports festivals, throughout the academic year.

Working Hours

32.5 hours per week, term time only plus attendance at statutory training (additional pay)

8:00am to 3:15pm (Monday to Friday) with a 45-minute un-paid lunch break

Salary (Grade 6)

Full-time salary (52 weeks/37 hours) From £26,402 to £28,598 per annum

Actual salary (190 days/32.5hours) From: £19,350 to £20,960 per annum

If you are passionate about education, sport and making a difference, we would love to hear from you.
