Teacher of Food Technology (possible TLR opportunity for the right candidate)
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and passionate full-time Teacher of Food Technology to join the team at Hampton College on a permanent basis, from September 2026. There is a TLR opportunity available for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will ideally be able to teach across Key Stages 3–5.
About the Department
The Technology Department at Hampton College is committed to innovative practice and a love of learning. Students undertake a variety of enjoyable and differentiated projects where they will explore their creativity and problem solving through a range of materials and processes. The aim is for students to enjoy their learning, achieve above and beyond expectation and design and produce outcomes they can take home and be proud of.
To develop their designing and making skills and prepare them for study at GCSE students in KS3 have three lessons per fortnight in Years 7 and 8 and four in Year 9. Students rotate through product design/graphics, food, textiles and electronics modules. Class numbers are good and generally lower than average to enable students to learn in a safe and spacious environment.
Key Stage 4 & 5 are growing with strong student uptake for GCSE Design Technology and GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition feeding into A-Level Design Technology: Product Design with the aim of running an A-Level Food course in the near future. KS4 courses are delivered through five lessons over a fortnight.
We have eight purpose-built and well-equipped teaching rooms consisting of three workshops, a graphics/CAD room, an electronics/computer room, two food rooms and a textiles room. The Design Technology Department has two part-time technicians – one covering the food and textiles rooms and the other covering the electronics and workshop areas.
