About this Role

Due to internal promotion within the Primary First Trust, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual with proven leadership experience to join the Primary First Trust as Headteacher for Mayplace Primary School.

About the School

Mayplace Primary School is a three-form entry school in the heart of Barnehurst, Bexley. It serves a thriving local community, is heavily oversubscribed and continues it journey to outstanding.

This position offers an exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity to be part of the continuing development of our school, which currently caters for 660 fantastic pupils aged 3 to 11. The school caters for a wide range of learning needs and has a resource provision for children with autism.

We pride ourselves on an inclusive green curriculum that supports the well-being of children and staff alike and, in turn, promotes a happy and healthy body and mind.

Our values of love of learning, leading learning, team, and belonging provide a framework that supports children in academic excellence and enables them to become clear thinkers, collaborative thinkers, and moral compass bearers. It is important that our children are accountable for themselves and others and understand where they fit into the wider world.

We have committed teaching and non-teaching staff who are a significant asset to the school and go above and beyond for the children.

Ofsted recognised this during their recent visit and suggested that the next inspection should be a Section 5 inspection with the possibility of an overall Outstanding grading.

The Role

You will lead the school, setting the vision, creating a creative and challenging curriculum, and the expectations for pupils' attainment and behaviour.

You will be responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of the school, including the curriculum, learning and teaching, and pupil progress and achievement. You will also manage the budget operationally and be responsible for all staff at the school.

You will support the Trust in creating a culture of high expectations, self-evaluation, and constant improvement. In return, you will be supported by colleagues across the Trust who will lead and manage the central business services so you can focus on developing your school's unique culture.

You will champion and value diversity and every individual's unique contribution to the learning community by providing an environment where pupils and staff feel confident, safe and happy.

You will champion the use of technology across different aspects of school life.

You will also work closely with the other schools in the trust, the wider local community, the PTFA, and local community groups.

About You

You will have strong primary school leadership experience in an appropriate school or similar setting.

  • Be an inspirational leader, able to motivate and empower all staff and students, while providing strong, decisive and courageous leadership.
  • You will be able to proactively promote the principles of Inclusion and Safeguarding to ensure that these are delivered effectively.
  • Have a successful track record in achieving whole school excellence in attainment and progress and able to set and support challenging goals that motivate and foster continued improvement.
  • Be visible and accessible, engage positively, and build and maintain excellent relationships with children, staff, parents, governors, and the community.
  • Prioritise the wellbeing, resilience and achievements of all children and staff and put this at the heart of all decisions.
  • Be prepared to challenge established working methods and demonstrate vision and agility in decision-making.
  • Demonstrate a robust, innovative, and realistic approach to financial planning and a proven ability to manage financial and human resources effectively and efficiently.

We are proud to offer:

  • An ambitious school management team committed to staff professional learning.
