About this Role

About This Role

As Faculty Lead for Maths, you will drive an ambitious and engaging curriculum that develops learners’ skills in numerical fluency, reasoning and problem-solving.  You will lead a dedicated team, ensuring learners receive a high-quality education that prepares them for both academic and vocational success. You will be responsible for strategic curriculum leadership, outcomes, staff development and the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning within the Maths Faculty. You will play a key role in shaping a curriculum that reflects our Catholic ethos, promoting curiosity, resilience and a sense of purpose.

You’ll oversee Maths lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, from guiding Year 7s through their first algebraic expressions to helping Year 11 master their trigonometric ratios.  Our curriculum model ensures that every learner is challenged and supported to reach their full potential. You will use assessment, data and evaluation to drive sustained improvement in learner outcomes.

What Can We Offer You?

  • A passionate and supportive Maths Faculty dedicated to fostering a love of Mathematics.
  • A well-structured curriculum, based on Edexcel specifications for GCSE and A-Level, ensuring learners develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Engaged learners who appreciate a good mathematical challenge and the joy of finding ‘x’.
  • Excellent resources, including interactive smart TVs, dynamic digital tools, and a strong collaborative teaching culture.
  • A strong focus on CPD and career progression, supporting you to develop as a teacher and leader.
  • The opportunity to inspire learners beyond the classroom through Maths challenges, STEM clubs, and problem-solving competitions.

 About the Faculty

Mathematics is at the core of our curriculum, fostering logical thinking, resilience, and analytical skills.

  • KS3: Learners build strong numerical foundations, exploring number theory, algebra, geometry, and statistics in engaging and interactive ways.
  • GCSE: Following the Edexcel Mathematics specification, learners develop problem-solving skills across algebra, ratio, proportion, and probability, preparing them for further study or real-world application.
  • A-Level: Our Edexcel Maths and Further Maths courses challenge learners to apply their skills in calculus, mechanics, and statistical reasoning—perfect preparation for university and beyond.

What Can You Offer Us?

We are looking for an inspirational leader who can:

Motivate and inspire learners and staff to develop their skills and confidence.

Innovate-bringing fresh ideas to enhance our curriculum and teaching methods.

Lead by example, setting high expectations for achievement and progress.

Demonstrate passion for Maths.

Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and resilience in learners.

Experience of leading or contributing significantly to curriculum development and faculty improvement.

So, if you’re ready to share your passion for Maths, inspire young minds, and shape the next generation of problem-solvers, we would love to hear from you!

Join us at St John Fisher Catholic College and help shape the hearts, minds, and faith of the next generation.
