enthusiastic, creative, and committed leader of the Learning Support Department
from September 2026.
This is a unique opportunity
for a highly motivated individual to take on an integral leadership role within
a newly thriving SEND Department. The
successful candidate will work
with the Head of Inclusion, a highly qualified, experienced and successful
former SENCo who is working to transform the way we work with young people, improving
their chances for success, fulfillment, and wellbeing across multiple settings.
Improving outcomes for pupils with SEND is one of our four School Priorities at
JMS and is the foundation for development of our rapidly improving school.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the
capability to lead and deliver an exceptionally high standard of SEND provision,
to review and assess its efficacy and to understand how to improve and develop adaptations
and interventions. Some knowledge of
SEND literacy and numeracy strategies for raising achievement is essential, as
is the ability to work with all curriculum areas and year teams in the
school. They will lead a highly
successful and well-established team of Teaching Assistants, interfacing with
the school’s pastoral team and building and developing collaborative approaches
in the classroom with teaching colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes
for our young people.
This post is suitable for a teacher who is
willing to work towards the NASENCo (National Award for SEN Coordination)
qualification whilst in post, for which the school will support the training,
or a teacher who has already achieved the NASENCo.
The successful candidate will:

Have excellent organizational skills and up-to-date knowledge of
relevant legislation

Have experience of implementing strategies to successfully
support students

Be able to model good practice, deliver training and recommend
specific programmes of intervention for students
·
Be a team player who is creative, energetic and who will provide
enriching and inspiring learning opportunities for our young people
·
Make a positive contribution to all aspects of school life
·
Be an excellent classroom practitioner
