About this Role

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and reflective Food and Nutrition teacher to join our supportive and successful Visual Arts faculty. Applications are invited from inspiring practitioners who can teach across key stages 3 & 4 and have expertise in areas such as nutrition, hospitality and catering processes would be an advantage.  The subject is currently a popular option at KS4.

The successful candidate will be passionate about promoting the teaching and learning of creative subjects and healthy lifestyles and have the capacity to deliver great teaching, ensuring that students achieve their potential and thrive in an environment that is engaging, challenging and inclusive. Our goal as a faculty is to work to engender in our students an appreciation of the value of the creative arts in the curriculum, and develop and achieve creative confidence, in depth subject knowledge as well as refined practical and transferable skillsets.

The faculty is committed to facilitating manageable workloads and ensures that practices are informed by current evidence and evaluation. We are on a continuous reflective journey to develop our curriculum design and assessment strategies further and this is an exciting time to join the faculty and work alongside experienced and dedicated colleagues.

If you are committed to inspiring your students to learn how the creative arts help them to understand the world, and value the transferable skills developed through purposeful practice, then we encourage you to apply.

The successful candidate will be:

       an enthusiastic teacher, able to ignite interest from students and colleagues;

       committed to ensuring that all students reach their potential;

       capable of promoting partnerships and collaborative working in our school, across the Abingdon Learning Trust and in the wider artistic teaching community.

       a role model for our students and staff;

       active in working to develop their own teaching practice.

In return we will offer you:

       the support and satisfaction of being part of a collaborative, aspirational and reflective team led by experienced staff.

       students who have a desire to achieve and respect the school’s expectations.

       a program of supported induction and continuing professional development firmly rooted in educational research.

       a commitment to supporting the well-being of staff.
