About this Role

St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy is a popular, oversubscribed and thriving school where music is highly regarded. We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Music to join our highly successful department, led by a senior moderator for one of the principal examination boards. Through a passion for success and exceptionally high standards both in and outside the classroom we are seeking someone who can support and further develop the existing array of musical opportunity available to our students, including our Voicebox choir, jazz orchestra and Key Stage 3 and 4 ensembles.   The suitable candidate will be expected to make a valued contribution to the department and to help shape its strategic development, including as Stoke on Trent’s lead school within the Music Partnership network. The ability to offer Music at A Level would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Applications from ECTs (for whom excellent support is available) are welcomed. Candidates considering part time employment are invited to apply, alongside those looking for a full-time position. For those seeking full-time employment, the ability to teach a second subject would be advantageous, particularly Religious Education and/or the humanities.

The Academy are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all of its employees to share this commitment. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Amendment Order 1986 and, as such, it will be necessary for a Submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions. Shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online/social media check in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2023.

Potential candidates are welcome to visit the school by appointment, by contacting Mrs K McGough (Academy Manager) on 01782 883037.
