About St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy
A very warm welcome to St Margaret Ward Catholic Academy
The Academy is in the Archdiocese of Birmingham, serves the Catholic community of northern Stoke-on-Trent and offers a holistic education in a Christian setting. Our aim is to provide children, from all abilities and backgrounds, with the best possible opportunities for success. We aspire for all students here to succeed through excellent teaching, uncompromising standards of behaviour and persistent care.
Through the inspiration we find in the words and example of our three patrons, St Margaret Ward, St John Henry Newman and St John Baptiste De La Salle we aspire to provide an education that produces responsible, compassionate, tolerant, courageous, and non-judgemental young people who live their lives with integrity.
We look to the courage and commitment of St. Margaret Ward, born in nearby Congleton and recognised as one of the English Martyrs, who bravely and selflessly attempted save a priest during the English Reformation, and sacrificed her life by refusing to denounce her faith. We aim for our students to be inspired to stay true to themselves and what they know to be right and just.
As a proud member of the Newman Catholic Collegiate we are inspired by the words of Blessed John Henry Newman,
“God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another… I shall do good; I shall do His work.”
We aspire for our students to recognise that they are called to serve others, to nurture them to become citizens and leaders of the future who are determined to leave the world in a better condition that when they found it, committed to always doing good.
And we hope to realise the vision of St John Baptiste De La Salle, the patron Saint of teachers, that education gives hope and opportunity for people to lead better lives of dignity and freedom. We aim for our students to be committed learners who value education and develop a love of learning, a thirst for knowledge and a sense of creativity that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Our mission is to educate mind and heart and deliver an education for all our young people which will provide them with a broad range of choices and opportunities in the future and we proudly celebrate the high standards our students achieve in examination results, in the arts and in sport.
We are part of St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi Academy Trust which is a growing family of 63 schools across the Archdiocese of Birmingham, united by a shared mission to deliver excellent Catholic education that transforms lives.
We are inspired by St Gabriel the Archangel and guided by five values that shape our culture: Confidence & Humility, Peace & Courage, Faith in the Impossible, Listening with Love and Service Beyond Self. These values drive our commitment to helping every pupil and colleague flourish within our Trust.
