Strategic Leadership and School Improvement:
Deputise for the Principal and provide strategic leadership in their absence
Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's vision, ethos, and strategic direction
Lead on the school's improvement planning process, ensuring that all areas of the school are aligned with the school's priorities
Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the school's performance, identifying areas for development and implementing effective strategies for improvement
Curriculum and Teaching and Learning:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the school's curriculum, ensuring that it is well-sequenced and promotes progress for all pupils
Lead on the development and implementation of the school's teaching and learning strategy, supporting staff to deliver high-quality lessons
Monitor the quality of teaching and learning across the school, providing feedback and support to teachers to improve their practice
Oversee the school's assessment systems, using data to identify and address areas of underperformance
Leadership and Management:
Support the Principal in the line management of senior and middle leaders, ensuring that they are effectively leading their teams and driving improvement
Develop and maintain a cohesive and collaborative leadership team, fostering a culture of shared responsibility and accountability
Lead on the professional development of staff, identifying training needs and implementing effective CPD programmes
Contribute to the school's financial management, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support school improvement priorities
Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare:
Ensure that the school's safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented, and that all staff are trained and supported to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities
Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure that any safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and effectively
Promote a culture of high expectations and support for all pupils, ensuring that their welfare and personal development are prioritised
Proven track record of successful senior leadership experience in a secondary school setting
Excellent understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and teaching and learning strategies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with staff, pupils, and the wider school community
Demonstrable experience in leading and managing change, with a focus on continuous improvement
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform decision-making
Commitment to promoting the school's vision and values, and to ensuring that all pupils receive a high-quality education

The school will also support the Senior Vice Principal in pursuing any relevant professional qualifications or accreditations, such as the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)

The Senior Vice Principal will play a key role in ensuring that the school's safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented, and that all staff are trained and supported to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities.
Specific safeguarding duties for the Senior Vice Principal include:
Providing strategic oversight and support for the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Ensuring that all staff receive appropriate safeguarding training and updates
Monitoring the effectiveness of the school's safeguarding practises and procedures
Liaising with external agencies, such as children's social care and the police, to ensure that any safeguarding concerns are addressed promptly and effectively
Promoting a culture of high expectations and support for all pupils, with a focus on their welfare and personal development
The Senior Vice Principal must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and must be willing to undergo appropriate checks, including enhanced DBS clearance.
