About the role

The Cover Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining continuity of learning and supporting the day-to-day management of classes at Heron Hall Academy. Working within the academy’s inclusive and diverse community, the post holder ensures that pupils remain engaged, focused and well-behaved during lessons, following pre-prepared learning activities provided by teaching staff.

What we are looking for

You will have experience working with children or young people and the ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively, ensuring a calm, focused and productive learning environment. You will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of teaching staff, delivering pre-prepared lessons and supporting pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND and EAL needs. Strong communication skills, adaptability and a commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing are essential, alongside the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and the wider school community. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about education who is keen to support pupils’ learning, development and engagement.

What we offer

Our pledge is to offer a supportive, caring, meaningful place to work and learn. Being an employer of choice is our continued aspiration. We offer a range of benefits to our staff:

  • Access to NSCT Health Cash Plan, covering a range of healthcare cover, benefits, perks and discounts
  • Career pathways and leadership development
  • Continuous professional development and training opportunities
  • Promote manageable workloads and support a healthy work life balance
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Subsidised lunches in our canteen
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Staff referral bonus scheme
  • Free onsite parking
