About this Role

Teacher of Music, MPS/UPS (Outer London)

Start date: 1 September 2026

Contract: Permanent/Fixed Term (part time or job share)

(for the right candidate a TLR would be available to lead the Music department for one year)

St Andrew the Apostle School is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Teacher of Music to join our team on a part‑time, job‑share basis. We are looking for a teacher to deliver high‑quality music lessons that inspire creativity, confidence, and strong performance skills.

The ideal candidate will have genuine enthusiasm for music and a strong belief in every student's potential. They will have a good understanding of the national curriculum for music and be committed to raising attainment through imaginative and engaging schemes of work. You will be a strong team player with high professional standards, excellent communication skills, and high expectations for both yourself and our pupils.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating and leading school music performances and contributing to a dynamic and inclusive extra‑curricular music programme.

Job-share partners are expected to work collaboratively, maintain consistent communication, and ensure continuity of provision, so the role functions seamlessly throughout the week. Further details about how the arrangement will operate can be explored during the interview stage.

For the right candidate, a Lead Teacher of Music role is possible. That person will provide strategic direction for the music curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across the department. They will also mentor and support colleagues, drive enrichment opportunities, and manage the development of musical provision beyond classroom teaching.

We provide a robust training and induction program to aid your professional development and career advancement. Our new building features advanced classrooms and is equipped with the most sophisticated educational technology available, offering an excellent environment for both teaching and learning.
