About this Role

The Safeguarding and attendance Officer will:

• Work proactively and collaboratively to support the school to ensure that the highest possible standards of safeguarding are in place, exercising professional curiosity.
• Be the part of the front-line team as a contact for safeguarding issues arising on a day to day basis.


The Safeguarding and Attendance Officer will work independently and alongside key staff in school and the Local Authority to:
• Promote excellent attendance and punctuality for all children.
• Reduce levels of absence and persistent absence.
• Work with children and families to promote high levels of attendance and punctuality.

We are looking to appoint someone who:
• Is able to adapt easily and learn new systems and procedures.
• Knows how to interpret and understand information and data.
• Has a working knowledge of safeguarding requirements and their vital importance.
• Has proven ICT skills.
• Is able to work with parents/carers effectively and sensitively.
• Is able to work with understanding, compassion, tact and diplomacy, alongside being able to be direct.
• Is able to foster, develop and maintain positive relationships on a variety of levels.

Our recent OFSTED inspection in May 2024 made the following comments about teaching and relationships at school.:

  • Pupils are highly positive about their school. They are welcomed warmly as soon as they join, and staff make sure that they settle quickly. Staff are highly ambitious for all pupils, and pupils recognise and value this.
  • Pupils’ behaviour is good. Lessons are calm and purposeful. Pupils’ attitudes to learning are positive.
  • The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils and provides a strong foundation for their future learning. In most subjects, staff clearly set out what pupils need to know, and the order in which they need to learn it.
  • Teachers have detailed subject expertise.
