About this Role
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Literacy and Library Catch up Support Assistant to join our friendly team here at City of Peterborough Academy.
This role is central to improving literacy outcomes across the academy and ensuring students who require additional support can make progress.
Working closely with the Literacy Lead you will help deliver targeted literacy interventions, support reading development, and contribute to a vibrant, purposeful library environment. If you're passionate about supporting young people in their learning journey and ready to be a valued part of our supportive team, we’d love to hear from you!
- Deliver small‑group catch‑up sessions
- Support students with reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development
- Plan and prepare resources to close learning gaps
- Track and monitor student progress
- Support teachers with literacy strategies
- Take ownership and responsibility of the Academy library, including supporting students during library sessions
- Promote reading for pleasure and engagement with the library
- Help maintain an organised, welcoming library space
- Is passionate about literacy and supporting young people
- Communicates clearly and builds positive relationship
- Is organised, proactive, and able to work independently
- Has strong reading, writing, and communication skills
- Is confident delivering small‑group interventions
- Enjoys working in a library or literacy‑focused environment
- Is committed to inclusion and student wellbeing
