About the role 

The Bishop Wand School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive and skilled Learning Support team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. 

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to promote inclusion and enable students with additional needs to fully access learning and school life. 

Key responsibilities 

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will: 

        • Support students in lessons to promote inclusion and engagement in the classroom 
        • Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt learning activities for individuals and small groups 
        • Deliver targeted learning support and intervention programmes where appropriate 
        • Support students with SEND, significant care needs, or where English is an additional language 
        • Break down tasks and instructions into manageable steps to aid understanding 
        • Monitor students’ progress and wellbeing, reporting concerns as required 
        • Assist students with organisation, including timetables, equipment, and homework 
        • Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and strong relationships with peers and staff 
        • Support students in managing social situations and group work 
        • Act as a key person for identified students, helping them communicate their needs 
        • Escort and supervise students to ensure their safety throughout the school day 
        • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews, reporting, and safeguarding procedures 
        • Work as part of a team to develop areas of SEND expertise and share best practice
