All about the role: 

We have a vacancy at The Mead Primary School for a Wrap Around Care Leader (After School), to support our Wrap Around Care offer. The Leader will take responsibility for providing an inspirational, fun and caring environment for all children staying at school after the end of the school day. 

There is no requirement to have a qualification for this role, but you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, and playful. Our staff come from a huge variety of backgrounds, and we embrace and actively welcome people from all walks of life. We understand the vast knowledge and skill that comes from a range of sectors.  

The duties and responsibilities of the Wrap Around Care Leader are to: 

  • Ensure statutory requirements for registration of children are met 
  • Ensure children can use equipment and materials provided 
  • Motivate and support children 
  • Meet children’s physical needs as required, while promoting independence 
  • Use initiative and direct the Wrap Around Care Assistants and other TAs as needed 
  • Maintain a safe, secure and stimulating play environment 
  • Develop opportunities which encourage children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play 
  • Lead the planning, preparation and delivery of activities which meet children’s individual developmental needs 
  • Work face to face with the children registered in Wrap Around Care 
  • Ensure the delivery and supervision of meals and refreshments for the children 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery and implement and evaluate changes, where required 
  • Support all children by promoting positive strategies for behaviour, in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy 
  • Ensure that Wrap Around Care offers a high quality, inclusive environment which meets the needs of all children, regardless of social, culture, religion or beliefs 
  • Help with dressing / toileting / eating as needed 
  • Administer Basic First Aid as appropriate  

This role will be a great fit for you if you are:

  • Happy to work in a team, as well as being able to use your own initiative  
  • Able to communicate well with children and adults  
  • Willing to undertake First Aid training (if you haven’t got a certificate already)

This role will involve contact with children and the post holder will be engaged in regulated activity relevant to children and will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed. We will only submit a DBS application to the relevant disclosure service when a position is accepted.
