All about the role: 

The Mead Primary School is a busy two-form entry school with 533 children on roll, including a Nursery for 3-4 year olds. The school is has a vacancy for an energetic and resourceful Administration Assistant to join the business services team from September 2024 for one year.  

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for parents and visitors to the school. As such, you will need to be someone who is:

  • Committed to the school’s vision, purpose and values  
  • Able to form positive relationships and be part of a friendly, dedicated business services team  
  • Able to provide clerical support to the Leadership Team  
  • Committed to valuing and supporting the development of each child  
  • Flexible, with a strong commitment to teamwork  
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with a good sense of humour  
  • Competent in all aspects of Microsoft Office, including SharePoint  
  • Someone who possesses excellent inter-personal skills as you will be the first point of contact for parents, visitors and the general public 

 The main duties of the role are to:

  • Welcome visitors to the school, ensuring signing in procedures are followed  
  • Receive and prioritise incoming telephone calls, and deal with them appropriately  
  • Liaise with staff, governors, pupils, parents and outside agencies as directed   
  • Send online parental communications  
  • Ensure registers are accurate and support attendance management 
  • Input information on the school's system (Arbor) or pupil records and ensure all records are maintained and up-to-date 
  • Set up payments on the parent portal as required 
  • Assist in the production of reports, lists and other information relating to pupils' records, including attendance   
  • Manage sports trips and music lessons 
  • Manage school milk and school lunch administration 
  • Manage the administration of school-led clubs  
  • Support Admissions and the preparation of the prospectus 
  • Undertake word processing and photocopying of correspondence, standard letters, reports, publications and other documents  
  • Manage the school diary  
  • Provide cover to other sites if required 

In addition to these core duties, the Admin Assistant will also support the delivery of the school’s Arts curriculum, including providing specific Arts-based skills in Wrap Around Care and whole school performances. These tasks may require the post-holder to work until 6.00pm, and/or be available for evening performances. 

This role will involve contact with children and the post holder will be engaged in regulated activity relevant to children and will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed. We will only submit a DBS application to the relevant disclosure service when a position is accepted.
