About this Role

St John Houghton are seeking a confident, resilient and proactive Behaviour Support Worker to help promote positive behaviour and support students in achieving their full potential.

You will:

  • Have experience working with young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Be able to build positive and professional relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Remain calm under pressure and confidently manage challenging behaviour.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Be organised and able to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Use initiative, work independently and contribute effectively as part of a wider pastoral team.
  • Have an understanding of the factors that influence pupil behaviour and strategies to promote positive behaviour.
  • Be competent using IT systems and administrative processes.
  • Be energetic, enthusiastic and committed to supporting young people to succeed.
  • Share the values, ethos and commitment to safeguarding expected within a Catholic school environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the school's on-call behaviour system and responding to behavioural incidents.
  • Working with students to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Liaising with staff, parents and pastoral leaders regarding behaviour concerns.
  • Administering and recording sanctions, detentions and behaviour interventions.
  • Supporting investigations, exclusions processes, anti-bullying procedures and safeguarding requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate behaviour records and producing reports as required.
