Birchwood is a well-established, all round inclusive, co-educational secondary school and sixth form.
We
are seeking to appoint, for September 2025 or sooner if available, an
outstanding Teacher of Computer Science to join our motivated and supportive
Technology Faculty. The successful candidate will need to be
an enthusiastic, inspiring and motivating teacher who can demonstrate excellent
subject knowledge and will ensure students have high aspirations and achieve
their best. The role would suit an experienced teacher or an ambitious and
skilled new teacher.
This
position is available due to an expansion in the subject. Computing is taught
to all of years 7 and 8, and it is very popular in year 9 with 7 classes being
taught. At GCSE we offer IT and computer science, and at A-Level we offer
computer science, BTEC IT and BTEC Esports.
The
faculty is well led and the team are enthusiastic, committed and
supportive. We have a strong commitment
to continuous professional development and teacher work-life balance. For more
information about the Technology Faculty, please see the Faculty information
sheet included in this pack. The curriculum
maps are located on the school website (https://birchwoodonline.co.uk/students/technology-faculty/#Courses).
If you have
any further questions about this post, please feel free to email the Head of
Faculty, Mr J Stephens on jstephens@birchwoodhigh.org.uk.

We have great pride in being an inclusive school with an all-ability ethos that respects and responds to the different backgrounds and situations of all our students.
