Are you passionate about igniting a love of reading and transforming young people’s literacy skills? Stamford Welland Academy is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and committed Reading & Literacy Champion to support the development of reading across our school. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who believes in the power of literacy to open doors, build confidence and change futures.

About the Role

As our Reading & Literacy Champion, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering our whole‑school literacy strategy. You will work closely with teachers, support staff and school leaders to promote reading for pleasure, improve reading fluency and comprehension, and ensure all students—regardless of starting point—can access a rich and challenging curriculum.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading initiatives to build a strong reading culture across the academy
  • Coordinating reading interventions 
  • Supporting the running of the school library
  • Curating and promoting engaging reading materials and events
  • Running clubs, challenges and activities to inspire a love of books
  • Working with families to encourage reading beyond the school day

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about literacy and young people
  • Creative, proactive and full of ideas
  • Confident in supporting students with varying needs
  • An excellent communicator who can motivate and inspire
  • Organised, flexible and eager to make a real difference

Experience in education, libraries, literacy support or youth engagement is desirable, but a genuine enthusiasm for literacy and a commitment to improving outcomes is essential.
