Since September 2024, all permanent staff at Highcrest have benefitted from a 9-day working fortnight. The concept is simple: you attend work for nine days and get paid for ten. The tenth day is your dedicated ‘Reset Day’ — time away from school to catch up on your to-do list, recharge, and invest in your well-being.
Staff feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Colleagues return from their reset day feeling more energised, less overwhelmed, and better able to manage the demands of school life. Many also enjoy the extra flexibility, reduced travel time, and cost savings.

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Assistant
Head of Learning (Year 8) to support the Head of Learning in delivering
high-quality pastoral care. This is a rewarding and dynamic role for someone
who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people and making a
meaningful difference to their school experience.
You will be a proactive and resourceful individual with
excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build strong
relationships with students, parents and colleagues. The role is varied,
fast-paced and highly rewarding—no two days are the same—so resilience,
adaptability, a good sense of humour and a positive outlook are essential.
You will play a key role in supporting all students across
the year group, including those with SEND and those who are most able. This
will include a combination of the following responsibilities:
Experience of working with secondary-aged students or young
adults would be advantageous. An interest in areas such as psychology,
wellbeing or mental health would also be beneficial.
