‘Work 9 – Paid 10’ Staff Well-being Scheme
From September 2024, we will be implementing a 9-day working fortnight for all staff. The premise is simple, staff will work nine days but be paid for ten, using the tenth day to ‘reset’, and thus giving them the opportunity to manage their work-life balance more effectively.
We are committed to the well-being and mental health of our staff and understand the pressures that working in education can place on individuals. We are always looking for ways to improve working conditions and offer our staff incentives that are not always available in education.

The Highcrest Academy is the only all ability academy in Buckinghamshire. Based in High Wycombe, we live by our motto 'Aspire and Achieve' and believe that by working together in a happy, caring and inclusive community, we can provide students of all abilities, backgrounds and cultures the opportunities to aspire and achieve their unique academic and personal ambitions. The Highcrest Academy thrives on being part of the local community and instilling a community feel around the site.
To support our students on their journey, we aim to provide:
- an acutely personalised inclusive curriculum that challenges students of all abilities and creates independent and autonomous learners who are physically, digitally and academically literate.
- an environment in which students work in harmony, respecting each other's rights and supporting one another in times of need, foraging positive relationships and celebrating success together
- cohesive systems that support self-discovery and the development of character that ensures our students become healthy, confident and responsible citizens that make a valuable contribution to society.
- a diverse, safe and happy community, where staff love to work, students love to learn and all are given the opportunity to develop
Highcrest has also continued to be accredited by many national organisations that recognise and reward our work as a school in which all pupils of all abilities are stretched to perform to their maximum. Indeed, we have maintained our status as a Flagship school for the prestigious Inclusion Quality Mark for nine consecutive years and have also now held the NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education) since 2013. Furthermore, in 2017, we became the first secondary school in Buckinghamshire, and only the fifteenth secondary school nationally, to be accredited as a Gold Award UNICEF Rights Respecting School; you can imagine how proud our community is of this award. The UNICEF articles continue to be at the heart of everything that we do at Highcrest.
