We
are delighted to be working along side Nottingham City Council to build and
provide a new SEND provision here at The Fernwood School. As such we are
looking to appoint a dedicated learning support assistant to work alongside our
established Study Support Team teaching within the new provision.
About this
Role
The postholder will support the teacher and
students to plan and deliver a personalised, alternative curriculum focusing on early
years/KS1 outcomes, adapted for secondary aged students.
They will work closely with the SENDCO, Teaching staff, external agencies, and
the study support team to ensure the student’s needs are met through
high-quality lesson. The role requires an experience learning support assistant with SEND
knowledge and experience to use a range of multi-sensory, play based and
structured approaches to teach a small group of students with varying needs. Please

The
Fernwood School has a long‑standing tradition of excellence and an ambitious

teachers across the curriculum to support the delivery of carefully sequenced,

Study Support staff work tirelessly to ensure that all SEND students are
supported to achieve their full potential across the curriculum. For students
who are unable to access our mainstream curriculum there is a comprehensive and
bespoke Nurture curriculum in place which is taught by subject specialists.
Building on this further, creating a bespoke curriculum for a targeted group of
students who are working significantly below their peers and have a diagnosis
of Autism.
