Due to the expansion of the Hearing Resource Base (HRB), Sheldon School is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teacher or Trainee Teacher of the Deaf to join our established provision. We are looking for a full time candidate however part time hours could be negotiated for a suitable candidate.
The school adopts an auditory/oral approach, with
students taught in mainstream classes alongside their hearing peers, where they
benefit from high-quality teaching delivered by subject specialists. The
Resource Base offers up to 15 Local Authority-funded places for
students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for their sensory needs
(hearing).
All teaching and support staff receive specialist training
on how to accommodate the needs of deaf students, fostering a strong culture
of deaf awareness across the whole school community.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Resource
Base Manager in producing strategies to support staff and stakeholders working
with deaf/hard of hearing students, including those with additional SEN needs. You
will play a pivotal role in helping students to develop academically, socially,
and emotionally, enabling them to fully participate in the life of the school.
