About this Role

We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to the position of Behaviour Support Assistant based at Plymstock School.  This talented individual, will  assist within our caring and supportive learning environment for our young people, including the school vision of "Achieving Excellence through Curriculum and Culture".

The focus of this post is to complement the wider staff groups with implementation of the school’s Behaviour Policy. The Behaviour Support Assistant will strive to improve the behaviour and habits of identified pupils whose behaviour is a barrier to their learning, through systematic interventions. 

Under the direction of their line manager, within an agreed system of supervision, the post holders will support the effective day-to-day organisation, coordination and supervision of students along with supporting the Reset and Internal Reflection rooms (CORE) rooms.  Implementing agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom/CORE rooms.

What we are looking for:-

  • Recent experience of working closely with children and young people to support improvements in behaviours and attitudes
  • Understanding of the issues related to the motivation, behaviours and attitudes of young people
  • Understanding of the current issues related to disengagement of young people with education
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop successful working relationships
  • Experience of working with individuals/groups in or out of the classroom
