About this Role

The Governors of this highly successful, partially selective, mixed school invite applications for the post of Teacher of English. We seek a highly motivated and energetic candidate to join our very successful and very well resourced English department.  English is a popular subject across all Key Stages. We are passionate about encouraging reading; students study a range of texts spanning various genres and time periods at both KS3 and KS4. English is a popular subject at A level and we offer two A level courses:  English Literature and English Language & Literature. You will need to be able to teach students up to and including A level.

In the 2023 A level examinations:

  • 100% of A Level English Literature results were graded A*-B with 68% graded A-A*.

  • 100% of A Level English Language and Literature results were graded A*-C with 67% graded A*-A.

In 2023 GCSE examinations:

  • Over 93% of GCSE English Language results were graded at 5 or above, with 29% achieving a grade 8 or 9.

  • Over 92% of GCSE English Literature results were graded at 5 or above, with 40% achieving a grade 8 or 9.
