About this Role

We are excited to be recruiting for the post of KS3 Lead/Second in English and are looking for someone who is unapologetically passionate about their subject, and who wants to join a school community which values the wellbeing of its staff and invests in professional development.

Having achieved a 2022 Ofsted grading of ‘good’ overall, with personal development, leadership and management being recognised as ‘outstanding,’ we are determined not to be complacent and want to achieve even more for our students and staff. Our motto is ‘Engaging Minds, Nurturing Success and Inspiring Futures,’ and the school seeks to achieve this in many different ways.

Our February 2022 Ofsted report begins with the following paragraph: “Pupils are proud of their school. They enthuse about it to their parents, who know that they feel safe and happy. Pupils have many subjects to choose from, so everyone gets a chance to shine. They know that leaders have very high expectations of what they can achieve.”

We were delighted that our 2023 GCSE results confirmed we are in the top 2% of schools in the country for progress of pupils between ages 11 and 16.

What can we offer you?

·         Full support from a dedicated team of senior leaders

·         Excellent teaching resources

·         Robust behaviour system

·         A range of staff benefits including a cash health plan and access to a cycle to work scheme

The school’s successes are well documented and more information about these can be found on our website Home | Goldington Academy but we believe that it is most impressive when seen in action. We welcome enquiries and visits prior to application, so please get in touch with Karen Chisnall chisnallk@goldington.beds.sch.uk for more information.

We are aware of commitments you will have made to your schools and the children therefore we can be flexible on start dates for the right candidate.

Conditions of Service

All appointments will be governed by the current Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales.

Equal Opportunities

Goldington Academy is an equal opportunities employer and therefore operates no restrictive policies in relation to age, sex or creed. It is the wish of the academy’s Governors to appoint the most suitable candidate from all the candidates offering themselves for appointment.

Safer Recruitment

Goldington Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all trustees, staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service along with other relevant employment checks, including overseas criminal background checks, where applicable, and other pre-appointment checks outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2023). All new trustees, employees and volunteers will be required to undertake safeguarding training on induction which will be regularly updated in line with statutory guidance.
