Are you passionate about teaching Art in a school that values creativity, ambition and exceptional standards? This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving, collaborative and highly skilled department where staff, who are practising artists, bring contemporary, professional expertise directly into the classroom.

Why teach Art at Comberton Village College?

- A rich and inspiring curriculum: Our Art & Design curriculum is built around developing the informed practitioner, combining deep practical skill with a broad, sequential understanding of art history, media and creative processes across Key Stages 3–5.

- A team of practising artists: Every member of our Art department is an active creative professional, sharing realworld expertise in fine art, graphic design, illustration, animation, photography and more.

- High expectations and exceptional outcomes: The department sets exceptionally high standards, reflected in the outstanding quality of pupils’ work at every stage.

- Realworld creative opportunities: Pupils, especially in the sixth form, contribute to live design work for the school community, including the annual design of the Comberton Sixth Form Prospectus.

- Enrichment and trips: Pupils benefit from a wide variety of local and national experiences

What we offer:

·         A school culture that prioritises staff wellbeing and professional growth.

·         Engaged and respectful students who embody our ethos of Caring, Confident and Capable.

·         Excellent facilities, generous noncontact time and a commitment to work–life balance.

‘Pupils here are not taught just to pass exams. They acquire the skills and knowledge they need to be first-rate scientists, historians, and artists, among others.’ (Ofsted, November 2024).

We are a highly successful, community mixed comprehensive school with Teaching School status in a pleasant rural setting only 5 miles from the centre of Cambridge. We currently have around 2000 11-18 pupils on roll including in our sixth form centre that opened in September 2011. We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Art who is totally committed to our aim to provide pupils with a fantastic experience in the subject across the full age and ability range. This role may offer a suitable candidate the chance to teach on one of our popular and exceptionally successful A Level courses and would suit either an ECT or an experienced practitioner.

Our pupils are well motivated, staff morale is excellent and examination results at KS4 and KS5 are very strong across our comprehensive intake. The school has consistently been rated by Ofsted as outstanding over many years – our most recent Ofsted (November 2024) achieved ‘outstanding’ in all categories.

If you are enthusiastic, inspiring and committed to highquality Art teaching, we would love to hear from you.
