About this Role

Oakgrove School is looking to appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) to join our team.

The DSL will take strategic and operational responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across both Primary and Secondary sites, including online safety. This role is pivotal in promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students. They will take part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings, and contribute to the assessment of children.

They will advise and support other members of staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters, and liaise with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police. While some safeguarding activities may be delegated to deputies, the DSL will retain ultimate lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection at Oakgrove School.

The Educational Visits Coordinator (EVC) is responsible for the planning, management, and safety of all educational visits and off-site activities. Their role includes ensuring the school has appropriate policies and procedures in place, providing guidance to visit leaders, overseeing administrative and risk assessment processes, and maintaining records. The EVC ensures visits comply with health and safety legislation and support the educational goals of the school.

The successful candidate will be self motivated and personally resilient, possess exceptional levels of personal integrity and strict confidentiality, along with the ability to keep calm and focussed in pressurised situations. They must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, and excellent organisational skills with the ability to prepare reports, maintain records and manage data.

The working pattern for this role is 8.00am - 4.00pm for 41 weeks (Term time, 5 INSET days  plus 2 weeks).

Oakgrove has a reputation for achieving the highest results, for attainment and progress, in Milton Keynes for both KS4 and KS5 and we are very proud of the successes of our students. The behaviour of our students has been described as exemplary. We have a history of achieving exceptional results and destinations for our students. The staff team at Oakgrove is highly dedicated and supportive and we welcome new staff who share our ethos.
