Do you want to
work in a school that values the arts and provides excellent professional
development opportunities?
Music is a successful department at The Compton School and is taught at both KS3 and KS4. At The Compton, the Arts are really valued, and earlier this academic year The Compton was awarded the Artsmark Platinum Award to recognise the school's excellent provision and continued commitment to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education for all. Music is taught throughout KS3 rather than on a carousel basis. The two music rooms and six practice rooms are housed within our purpose built arts block. Students work in a purposeful atmosphere and achieve excellent results. The department runs a rich extracurricular programme, often in collaboration with the other arts departments, which includes concerts, festivals, whole school musicals and trips, as well as weekly clubs and ensembles. The previous Head of Music was in post for 17 years, so this is a rare and exciting opportunity for an ambitious Head of Music to build on the strong foundations that have been laid, whilst also bringing their own stamp and perspective.
Why work at The Compton School?
Who are we?
We are a
massively oversubscribed mixed multi-ethnic school that has had four
outstanding OFSTED inspections in succession, most recently in January 2018.
Students at the Compton make exceptional progress - our results routinely put
the school within the top 5% of schools nationally for progress.
At The Compton,
we understand that our brilliant teachers make a difference to the life chances
of our students every day by helping them to secure outstanding outcomes. We
always strive to appoint the very best teachers and once in post we provide a
workplace environment that ensures their needs are fully met now and in the
future. Many of our policies actively seek to reduce teacher workload, for
example, we have smaller class sizes, reduced teacher timetable loading and 6
INSET days a year.
Are you the right person to join our team? If so, we would be delighted to hear from you.
The Compton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
