Plan and deliver high quality teaching
and learning which:

Ensure the
curriculum has appropriate depth and breadth, is sequenced effectively and
fulfils the national curriculum.
·
Ensure
effective implementation of the curriculum, supporting with quality assurance.
·
Meets the
needs of all students taking into account the individual requirements of each
student.
·
Fulfils the demands
of the relevant specifications, tutor guides (schemes of work) and College
ethos.

Makes a
positive impact on student attainment and achievement.
Work with other staff in contributing to
student learning including:

Supporting
students outside their timetabled learning sessions through support clinics and
tutorials.

Enhancing
students’ experience of Geography through involvement in enrichment and
extension activities.
·
Leading
Geography team meetings, contributing to leadership meetings, leading meetings/
professional development sessions as when appropriate.
·
Working with
other staff to enhance the Geography curriculum, innovate new ideas to improve
student outcomes and provide wider enriching experiences for students.
·
Supporting
reading across the College, including students in the early stages of reading.
Assessment and Reporting:
·
Ensure
regular formative assessment takes place to address knowledge gaps and inform
teaching.
·
Ensure
assessments are appropriate to the needs of the curriculum.
·
Provide
students with regular, incisive feedback in response to their written work, in
line with College policies.
·
Ensure recording
and reporting are in line with College policies.
·
Be able to
accurately assess each learning groups’ levels of attainment against student
targets and national benchmarks.
Fulfil wider professional
responsibilities including:

Set and
maintain high standards, expectations and aspirations for both staff and
students, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect and that they
receive appropriate guidance, support and recognition.
·
Maintain a
safe and well-ordered learning environment, safeguarding students’ health and
safety, managing behaviour effectively and rewarding success appropriately.
·
Actively seek
opportunities for professional development to further enhance pedagogy and
practice, and keep up to date with curriculum and qualification changes.
The Curriculum Leader
for Geography should also ensure:

the curriculum is highly effective
in its planning and delivery;
·
the
curriculum policy is appropriate and clearly reflects the ethos of the College
and is preparing students for their next stages;

there
is a clear sense of purpose, direction and leadership for the teachers in the
team.
·
