About this Role

St Peter’s School, York, is a dynamic, forward-looking HMC independent school for day and boarding pupils based a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre of York. 

We are seeking an experienced and innovative HR Professional to work within a small HR team. The HR department consists of the HR Manager, a HR Advisor and a HR Administrator.  The Department provides a full HR service to c400 staff across three schools and the role holder can expect involvement in all aspects of operational HR work. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious HR professional seeking to develop their career as the role does form part of a longer term succession plan.

This is very much a hands-on, operational role and the role holder will:

  • Assist the HR Manager with the smooth running of the Human Resources Department and the development, implementation and monitoring of HR processes and policies.
  • Take a lead in the provision of operational HR support across the School ensuring a professional, high quality and customer focused HR service to managers and staff as well as job applicants and other external contacts.

The role requires a skilled HR Professional, with substantial operational experience within in a similar office environment.  Applicants must hold a minimum of a CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate with an excellent working knowledge of employment law and HR good practice.

We offer a competitive salary of up to c£35,000 to reflect the important nature of the role and the experience, skills and qualifications of the successful candidate.
