Waking Night Student Support Assistant - Fixed Term Contract, Maternity Cover until May 2027
We are looking for a caring, motivated and reliable Waking Night Student Support Assistant to join our residential education provision. In this role, you will help create a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for young people with special educational needs, ensuring their physical, emotional and social wellbeing throughout the night. You will play a key part in enabling students to feel secure, comfortable and able to develop their independence and reach their full potential.
In this role you will:
- Support students during the evening and night, carrying out regular checks, monitoring for any signs of distress and keeping accurate records.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff and other departments to maintain high standards of care.
- Promote students’ intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development within the residential setting.
- Support personal care routines including washing, bathing, mealtime assistance, and morning/evening routines.
- The role will include a substantial amount of moving and handling children and young people.
- Follow and implement individual care plans, helping students work towards their independence goals.
- Use appropriate recording and reporting processes in line with organisational procedures.
- Carry out domestic duties such as laundry and cleaning to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
- Adhere to moving and handling procedures and all health and safety and safeguarding practices.
- Work towards completing the Level 3 Residential Childcare Diploma, if applicable.
- Uphold school policies including safeguarding, equality, diversity, confidentiality and data protection
Desirable: Experience in school or residential settings, GCSEs in English/Maths, Level 3 Diploma and knowledge of SEND.

You will get a total hourly payment of £16.80ph for the hours worked between 10pm to 7am on weekdays.
