About Us

Roots Federation are seeking to appoint a talented and dynamic Head of School at Oxhey Nursery School from the start of the 2024/2025 academic year. The role will encompass day-to-day oversight of the leadership and management of the school, working closely with the support of the Executive Headteachers, to develop a school of choice for parents, children and staff.

The school is part of Roots Federation, a Federation of Maintained Nursery Schools. The Federation consists of Muriel Green Nursery School, Heath Lane Nursery School and Oxhey Nursery School. Whilst the current federated schools are located in Hertfordshire, further collaborations and consultancy support are established in Hertfordshire and beyond.

At Oxhey Nursery School we believe that early years educational settings are crucial for a child’s development. Learning is the key to everything we do, but most importantly we know learning must be fun! About You

You will be joining a very ambitious and forward thinking organisation. We are seeking outstanding candidates who want to develop themselves to support our educational vision, provide strong leadership and effective support to colleagues and raise standards for our pupils.

This would be an excellent opportunity for an ambitious existing Senior Leader. You will be working alongside the experienced Executive Headteachers, within a network of talented Heads of Schools and supported by a highly experienced central team. This role will provide opportunities for enormous leadership growth and set a clear pathway for those aspiring to Headship.

The Role

The Head of School will ensure that their leadership demonstrates commitment to promoting and developing good practice through the search for excellence in all areas.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work within the federation to articulate and promote the educational vision and values for the school which take account of the school’s diversity, values and and the communities it serves.
  • Model the vision and values in everyday work and practice.
  • Ensure creativity, innovation and the use of appropriate new technologies to achieve better outcomes for staff and pupils.
