About this Role

Furze Down is an outstanding special school based across two sites in Winslow and Buckingham. We provide education for 220 pupils aged 4–19 with communication and interaction differences. We are excited to welcome a Senior IT Engineer.  You will work closely with the IT Lead to ensure the smooth running, security and continuous development of the school's IT services.

About the role 

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior IT Engineer to join our team at Furze Down School. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled IT professional who enjoys combining hands-on technical support with project delivery, infrastructure management and service improvement.

Reporting to the IT Lead, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing the school's IT environment, supporting staff and students, and ensuring our systems remain secure, reliable and fit for the future. The role offers a varied workload spanning Microsoft 365, cloud services, networks, cybersecurity, device management and technical leadership.

There will be an opportunity to work towards the Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship Standard, providing valuable leadership and management development alongside your role.

 

What we’re looking for 

You will have:

  • Significant experience providing 2nd and 3rd line IT support within a complex environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Active Directory and device management technologies.
  • Experience supporting networks, servers, cloud-based services and cybersecurity controls.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Experience managing IT projects and implementing technical solutions.
  • A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Experience working with suppliers and third-party support providers.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities, work independently and contribute positively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, data protection and continuous professional development.
